People in Need charity

People in Need is a Scottish charity, based in Glasgow, which provides humanitarian assistance to people in Romania and Moldova, and encourage them that they are not forgotten by people in Scotland. Members and formers members of People in Need, and a formerly related charity, have, over the last 20 years, visited Cluj Napoca, Turda, Oradea and Bucharest in Romania, and Beltsy in Moldova, and have struck of friendships and useful working relationships with people there.

We also give money to Scottish charities, helping disadvantaged people in Scotland, and to deserving Scottish individuals.

Our most recent decison about giving money was taken during December 2021, when we agreed to pay travel costs to a Scottish handyman, who had agreed to volunteer his time, to do essential repair work at the charity shop. This work was completed during January 2022.

8/2/23 The charity shop has now re-opened.

13/10/23 The charity has spent £278.90 on buying firewood for needy people in transylvania, Romania. The distribution of the firewood has begun, and a new photos folder has been created.

18/11/23 The distribution of firewood has been completed. The charity's accounts, for 2022, have now been submitted to, and accepted by, the charity regulator OSCR. You can access a copy of our accounts on the administration page. We appologise for the delay in filing our accounts this year, which was precipitaed by our being required to be changing to be using a different accountant.

Our charity shop, at 94 Westmuir Street, is open 6 days a week. We can arrange to collect any large quanties of goods which you may wish to donate to us. Delivery can also be arranged to your home for large items bought from our shop, to an address within the local area. We are aware of new EU regulations, which started on 25th May 2018, and we believe that we are GDPR compliant. We don't use cookies, and we don't save or process any data from our supporters.

We work with give as you live, which means that if you buy from more than 4200 online retailers, including buying prepaid voucher cards for use in high street supermarkets offline, you can raise more money for us, at no cost to yourself. Click on the link below for more information.
