People in Need charity

People in Need is a Scottish charity, based in Glasgow, which provides humanitarian assistance to people in Romania and Moldova, and encourage them that they are not forgotten by people in Scotland. Members and formers members of People in Need, and a formerly related charity, have, over the last 20 years, visited Cluj Napoca, Turda, Oradea and Bucharest in Romania, and Beltsy in Moldova, and have struck of friendships and useful working relationships with people there.

We also give money to Scottish charities, helping disadvantaged people in Scotland, and to deserving Scottish individuals.

Our most recent decison about giving money was taken during December 2021, when we agreed to pay travel costs to a Scottish handyman, who had agreed to volunteer his time, to do essential repair work at the charity shop. This work was completed during January 2022.

11/8/24 The charity's accounts, for 2023, have now been submitted to, and accepted by, the charity regulator OSCR. You can access a copy of our accounts on the administration page.

4/9/25 The charity's accounts, for 2024, have now been submitted to, and accepted by, the charity regulator OSCR. Soon, you'll be able to be accessing a copy of our accounts on the administration page. In the meantime, you can just pop in to the shop, and ask for a copy.

4/9/25 Please note that our phone number, as shown on pictures of our shop, has been disconected, at our request. As a result of our decision to be ending our contract with BT, we are now saving about £100 a quater. If you'd like to be contacting us, please use email. Our charity shop, at 94 Westmuir Street, is open 6 days a week. We can arrange to collect any large quanties of goods which you may wish to donate to us. Delivery can also be arranged to your home for large items bought from our shop, to an address within the local area. We are aware of new EU regulations, which started on 25th May 2018, and we believe that we are GDPR compliant. We don't use cookies, and we don't save or process any data from our supporters.
